Description
A quick recipe for moist Tres Leches cake using a boxed cake mix.

- 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
- Ingredients listed on cake mix box (eggs, oil, water)
- 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
- 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
Instructions
- Prepare the cake batter according to the cake mix box directions, using the specified eggs, oil, and water.
- Pour the batter into a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Bake the cake according to the box instructions for a 9×13 pan.
- While the cake bakes, mix the evaporated milk, condensed milk, whole milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Set aside.
- Once the cake is baked, poke holes all over the top surface using a fork or skewer.
- Slowly pour the milk mixture evenly over the warm cake. Allow the cake to absorb the liquid completely, about 30 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Spread the whipped cream over the cooled, soaked cake.
- Chill the cake for at least 2 hours before serving.
Notes
- You can use any flavor of cake mix, but yellow or white works best for traditional flavor.
- For best results, poke holes while the cake is still warm from the oven.
