Description
A recipe for a refreshing margarita made with strawberries and beer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries
- 1/4 cup lime juice, fresh squeezed
- 1/4 cup tequila blanco
- 2 tablespoons orange liqueur (Cointreau or Triple Sec)
- 1 tablespoon agave nectar or simple syrup
- 1/2 cup light beer (lager or pilsner)
- Ice cubes
- Lime wedges and salt for rimming (optional)
Instructions
- If using fresh strawberries, hull and slice them. If using frozen, thaw slightly.
- Combine strawberries, lime juice, tequila, orange liqueur, and agave nectar in a blender. Blend until smooth.
- Taste the mixture and adjust sweetener if needed.
- If you want a salt rim, run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass and dip it in salt.
- Fill your serving glasses with ice.
- Pour the strawberry margarita base into the glasses, filling them about two-thirds full.
- Top each glass with about 2 ounces of light beer.
- Stir gently to combine the beer with the base.
- Garnish with a lime wedge or a fresh strawberry slice.
Notes
- For a less sweet drink, reduce the agave nectar amount.
- You can make a large batch of the strawberry base ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Add the beer just before serving.
- Use a light-bodied beer so it does not overpower the strawberry flavor.
