Spicy Sweet Sticky Chicken Thighs

Description

A recipe for chicken thighs coated in a spicy, sweet, and sticky glaze.


Ingredients

  • 6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha or chili garlic sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
  2. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels and season them generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Sear the chicken thighs, skin-side down, for 5 to 7 minutes until the skin is golden brown.
  5. Flip the chicken thighs.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, sriracha, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger to make the glaze.
  7. Pour half of the glaze over the chicken thighs in the skillet.
  8. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven.
  9. Bake for 20 minutes.
  10. Remove the skillet from the oven, brush the chicken with the remaining glaze, and return to the oven.
  11. Bake for another 10 to 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius) and the glaze is thick and sticky.
  12. Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • You can substitute chicken drumsticks for thighs if you prefer.
  • For extra stickiness, you can briefly broil the chicken for the last 2 minutes, watching carefully to prevent burning.
