Description
A quick recipe for a fresh strawberry sauce suitable for desserts.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Instructions
- Combine the sliced strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice in a medium saucepan.
- Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves and the strawberries begin to release their juices.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly. The strawberries will soften.
- Remove from heat. You can serve the sauce chunky or mash some of the berries with a fork for a smoother consistency.
- Allow the sauce to cool before serving.
Notes
- For a thicker sauce, simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
- This sauce tastes best when served warm or chilled.
