Description
A simple recipe for moist banana bread featuring a salted caramel swirl.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1/4 teaspoon flaky sea salt (for topping)
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Add the mashed bananas to the butter mixture and mix until just combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just incorporated. Do not overmix.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter.
- Pour the remaining batter over the caramel layer. Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce on top.
- Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the caramel into the batter.
- Sprinkle the flaky sea salt over the top.
- Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Use very ripe, spotty bananas for the best flavor and moisture.
- If your caramel sauce is too thick, warm it slightly before drizzling.
