Description
A rich and creamy banana pudding recipe based on Patti LaBelle’s style.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box (5.1 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix
- 3 cups cold milk
- 1 container (8 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed
- 1 box (11 ounces) vanilla wafers
- 4 ripe bananas, sliced
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the instant vanilla pudding according to package directions, using 3 cups of cold milk. Whisk until smooth.
- Gently fold the thawed whipped topping and vanilla extract into the prepared pudding mixture.
- Arrange a layer of vanilla wafers in the bottom of a large serving dish.
- Cover the wafers with a layer of sliced bananas.
- Spoon half of the pudding mixture over the bananas and wafers.
- Repeat the layers: wafers, bananas, and the remaining pudding mixture.
- Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the wafers to soften.
Notes
- For a thicker pudding, chill the pudding base for 10 minutes before folding in the whipped topping.
- Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor.
