Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease and flour a 10-inch tube pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  6. In a small bowl, combine the chopped pecans, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  7. Spread half of the cake batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle half of the pecan mixture over the batter.
  8. Spread the remaining batter over the pecan mixture. Sprinkle the remaining pecan mixture on top.
  9. Bake for 70-80 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
