- 1 pound spaghetti
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook spaghetti according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion until the beef is no longer pink and the onion is tender. Drain off any excess grease.
- Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese.
- In a 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the cooked spaghetti.
- Spread half of the meat sauce over the spaghetti.
- Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese over the sauce.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining spaghetti, sauce, and mozzarella cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- You can add other vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms to the sauce.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- Ensure your spaghetti is al dente before baking as it will continue to cook in the oven.
