A comforting and easy cornbread recipe with a sweet honey butter glaze.

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup yellow cornmeal
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1/4 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease and flour an 8×8 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, and egg.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- While the cornbread is baking, combine the honey and softened butter in a small bowl. Mix until smooth.
- Once the cornbread is out of the oven, immediately pour the honey butter mixture over the top. Let it melt and soak in for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, you can use buttermilk instead of regular milk.
- Add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the batter for a slight kick.
- Serve warm with your favorite chili or soup.
