Description

Soft and buttery garlic bread twists, perfect as a side dish or appetizer.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let stand for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add flour, salt, melted butter, and beaten eggs to the yeast mixture. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal pieces.
  6. Roll each piece into a 10-inch rope. Twist each rope into a spiral or knot.
  7. Place twists on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, and Parmesan cheese.
  10. Brush the garlic butter mixture over the risen twists.
  11. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, you can add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the garlic butter mixture.
