A comforting and easy pasta dish with a creamy tomato and basil sauce.
Ingredients

- 1 pound pasta
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: grated Parmesan cheese for serving
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
- Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, heavy cream, and basil. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat.
- Serve immediately, topped with Parmesan cheese if desired.
Notes
- For a richer sauce, you can add a tablespoon of butter with the cream.
- If you don’t have fresh basil, you can use 1 tablespoon of dried basil, added with the tomatoes.
