Description

A comforting and easy pasta dish with a creamy tomato and basil sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: grated Parmesan cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
  4. Stir in crushed tomatoes, heavy cream, and basil. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  6. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to coat.
  7. Serve immediately, topped with Parmesan cheese if desired.

Notes

  • For a richer sauce, you can add a tablespoon of butter with the cream.
  • If you don’t have fresh basil, you can use 1 tablespoon of dried basil, added with the tomatoes.
