Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter in half. To one half, stir in the cocoa powder.
  7. Spoon alternating dollops of vanilla and chocolate batter into the prepared baking pan.
  8. Swirl the batters together with a knife or skewer to create a marble effect.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
