Description
A classic homemade marble cake with swirls of chocolate and vanilla.
Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1.5 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Divide the batter in half. To one half, stir in the cocoa powder.
- Spoon alternating dollops of vanilla and chocolate batter into the prepared baking pan.
- Swirl the batters together with a knife or skewer to create a marble effect.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Ensure butter is at room temperature for best creaming results.
- Do not overmix the batter.
- Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting or slicing.
