Description

A simple recipe for rich and decadent chocolate waffles.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle iron.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and whisk until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Lightly grease your waffle iron.
  6. Pour about 1/2 cup of batter onto the hot waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions, until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Repeat with the remaining batter.
  8. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • For crispier waffles, you can add an extra tablespoon of oil.
  • You can add chocolate chips to the batter for extra chocolatey goodness.
  • Leftover waffles can be reheated in a toaster or oven.
