- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
- Make a well in the center and pour in the milk. Stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
- While biscuits are baking, combine the melted butter, parsley (if using), and a pinch of salt.
- Brush the tops of the warm biscuits with the melted butter mixture.
Notes
- For extra cheesy biscuits, add more cheddar cheese.
- Milk can be substituted with buttermilk for a tangier flavor.
- Ensure butter is very cold for flaky biscuits.
