Description

A straightforward recipe for grilling fresh asparagus spears until tender-crisp.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound asparagus spears
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 lemon, cut into wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the grill for medium-high heat.
  2. Wash the asparagus and snap off the tough, woody ends.
  3. Place the asparagus in a bowl and toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
  4. Place the asparagus directly on the grill grates, perpendicular to the grates to prevent falling through.
  5. Grill for 5 to 8 minutes, turning occasionally, until the asparagus is tender-crisp and has light char marks.
  6. Remove from the grill and serve immediately with fresh lemon wedges.

Notes

  • For easier handling, you can thread the asparagus onto skewers before grilling.
  • If you prefer a stronger flavor, add 1 clove of minced garlic to the oil mixture.
