Description

A simple cake recipe inspired by Elvis Presley’s favorite flavors: peanut butter, banana, and bacon.


Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • Ingredients required by cake mix box (eggs, oil, water)
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cake mix according to package directions, substituting the required water with the mashed bananas.
  2. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9×13 inch baking pan.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  4. While the cake bakes, prepare the peanut butter glaze. In a medium bowl, whisk together the peanut butter, milk, melted butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
  6. Poke holes all over the warm cake using a fork or skewer.
  7. Pour the peanut butter glaze evenly over the warm cake, allowing it to soak in.
  8. Sprinkle the crumbled bacon evenly over the top of the glaze.
  9. Allow the cake to cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and moisture in the cake.
  • You can use a different size pan, but adjust baking time as needed.
