Description
A simple cake recipe inspired by Elvis Presley’s favorite flavors: peanut butter, banana, and bacon.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- Ingredients required by cake mix box (eggs, oil, water)
- 1 cup mashed ripe bananas
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
Instructions
- Prepare the cake mix according to package directions, substituting the required water with the mashed bananas.
- Pour batter into a greased and floured 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- While the cake bakes, prepare the peanut butter glaze. In a medium bowl, whisk together the peanut butter, milk, melted butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes.
- Poke holes all over the warm cake using a fork or skewer.
- Pour the peanut butter glaze evenly over the warm cake, allowing it to soak in.
- Sprinkle the crumbled bacon evenly over the top of the glaze.
- Allow the cake to cool completely before slicing and serving.
Notes
- Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and moisture in the cake.
- You can use a different size pan, but adjust baking time as needed.
- Cook the bacon until it is very crisp so it crumbles easily.
