- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 12 ounces spaghetti
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
Instructions
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute more until fragrant.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper.
- Bring the sauce to a simmer, then reduce heat and let it cook for at least 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Meanwhile, cook the spaghetti according to package directions. Drain well.
- Serve the meat sauce over the cooked spaghetti. Top with grated Parmesan cheese.
Notes
- For a richer sauce, you can add a splash of red wine while the sauce simmers.
- You can also add other vegetables like bell peppers or mushrooms to the sauce.
