Description

Ingredients

  • 1 pound mushrooms, cleaned and stemmed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. In a shallow dish, whisk together flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. In another shallow dish, beat the eggs.
  3. In a third shallow dish, combine breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.
  4. Dip each mushroom stem-first into the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
  5. Dip the floured mushroom into the beaten eggs, letting excess drip off.
  6. Coat the egg-dipped mushroom with the breadcrumb and Parmesan mixture.
  7. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  8. Carefully add mushrooms to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
  9. Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
  10. Remove mushrooms with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  11. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.
  • Ensure the oil is hot enough for crispiness.
