- 1 pound mushrooms, cleaned and stemmed
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- In a shallow dish, whisk together flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- In another shallow dish, beat the eggs.
- In a third shallow dish, combine breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese.
- Dip each mushroom stem-first into the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
- Dip the floured mushroom into the beaten eggs, letting excess drip off.
- Coat the egg-dipped mushroom with the breadcrumb and Parmesan mixture.
- Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- Carefully add mushrooms to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
- Fry for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove mushrooms with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.
- Ensure the oil is hot enough for crispiness.
