Description

A recipe for making onion rings crispy using an air fryer.


Ingredients

  • 2 large yellow onions
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Slice the onions into 1/4-inch thick rings and separate them.
  2. In one shallow bowl, mix the flour, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  3. In a second shallow bowl, whisk the eggs and milk together.
  4. In a third shallow bowl, place the panko breadcrumbs.
  5. Dip each onion ring first into the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
  6. Next, dip the floured ring into the egg mixture, letting excess drip off.
  7. Finally, press the ring firmly into the panko breadcrumbs to coat completely.
  8. Preheat your air fryer to 380F (195C).
  9. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  10. Arrange the onion rings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding.
  11. Spray the tops of the onion rings lightly with cooking spray.
  12. Air fry for 8 to 12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crisp.
  13. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispness, you can chill the breaded rings for 15 minutes before air frying.
  • Serve with your preferred dipping sauce, such as ketchup or ranch dressing.
