Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream

Description

A recipe for homemade ice cream featuring chunks of raw cookie dough.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup prepared chocolate chip cookie dough pieces

Instructions

  1. Combine heavy cream, milk, sugar, and salt in a medium saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely. Do not boil.
  2. Remove the mixture from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. Chill the base mixture in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
  4. Churn the chilled base in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  5. During the last 2 minutes of churning, add the cookie dough pieces.
  6. Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container. Freeze for at least 4 hours to firm up before serving.

Notes

  • You can use store-bought or homemade cookie dough for the mix-ins.
  • If you prefer not to use raw eggs in your dough, look for egg-free cookie dough recipes.
