Description

A simple recipe for a fresh, satisfying burger featuring avocado and crisp lettuce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 ripe avocado, sliced
  • 4 leaves crisp lettuce
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • Mayonnaise or preferred condiment

Instructions

  1. Mix ground beef with salt and pepper. Form into four equal patties.
  2. Heat a grill or skillet to medium-high heat.
  3. Cook patties for 3 to 4 minutes per side for medium doneness, or to your preference.
  4. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty to melt.
  5. Lightly toast the hamburger buns.
  6. Assemble the burgers: spread condiment on the buns, then layer with lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese-topped patty, and avocado slices.
  7. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For best flavor, do not overwork the meat when forming patties.
  • You can substitute Monterey Jack cheese for cheddar.
