Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with soy sauce and cornstarch. Set aside for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the marinated chicken to the skillet. Cook until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
  5. Stir in the ground black pepper.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, oyster sauce (if using), and sugar.
  7. Pour the liquid mixture over the chicken. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens slightly, about 1-2 minutes.
