Description

A recipe for crispy fried shrimp coated in a creamy, spicy sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha
  • 1 teaspoon honey

Instructions

  1. Pat the shrimp dry with paper towels.
  2. In a shallow dish, mix the flour, salt, and pepper.
  3. In a second shallow dish, whisk the milk and egg together.
  4. In a third shallow dish, place the flour mixture.
  5. Dredge each shrimp first in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
  6. Dip the floured shrimp into the egg mixture.
  7. Coat the shrimp again in the flour mixture. Place on a plate.
  8. Heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  9. Fry the shrimp in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on a wire rack.
  10. While the shrimp cooks, prepare the sauce: Whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, and honey in a small bowl.
  11. Place the warm, fried shrimp in a large bowl. Pour the sauce over the shrimp and toss gently to coat completely.
  12. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can double-dip the shrimp in the flour mixture.
  • Adjust the amount of sriracha to control the heat level of the sauce.
