Description
A recipe for savory biscuits containing bacon and cheddar cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon.
- Pour in the buttermilk and mix gently until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Pat or roll the dough to about 3/4 inch thickness.
- Use a biscuit cutter to cut out rounds. Place the rounds on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
Notes
- For softer sides, place the biscuits close together on the baking sheet. For crispier sides, space them further apart.
- You can brush the tops with melted butter before baking for extra richness.
