Description

A simple recipe for cooking small whole chickens in an air fryer until the skin is crisp and the meat is tender.


Ingredients

  • 2 Cornish hens (about 1.5 lbs each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme

Instructions

  1. Pat the Cornish hens dry with paper towels.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and thyme.
  3. Rub the oil mixture all over the outside and inside cavity of each hen.
  4. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Place one hen in the air fryer basket, breast-side up. Do not overcrowd the basket.
  6. Air fry for 30 minutes.
  7. Carefully flip the hen over.
  8. Continue to air fry for another 15 to 20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
  9. Remove the hen from the air fryer and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  10. Repeat the process with the second hen.

Notes

  • If your air fryer basket is small, you may need to cook the hens one at a time.
  • Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer for accuracy.
