Description
A simple recipe for cooking small whole chickens in an air fryer until the skin is crisp and the meat is tender.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 Cornish hens (about 1.5 lbs each)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
Instructions
- Pat the Cornish hens dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and thyme.
- Rub the oil mixture all over the outside and inside cavity of each hen.
- Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Place one hen in the air fryer basket, breast-side up. Do not overcrowd the basket.
- Air fry for 30 minutes.
- Carefully flip the hen over.
- Continue to air fry for another 15 to 20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.
- Remove the hen from the air fryer and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
- Repeat the process with the second hen.
Notes
- If your air fryer basket is small, you may need to cook the hens one at a time.
- Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer for accuracy.
