Description
A recipe for making crispy fried chicken using an air fryer.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs chicken pieces (drumsticks, thighs, wings)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- Cooking spray
Instructions
- In a shallow dish, mix flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
- In a second shallow dish, whisk together eggs and milk.
- Dip each piece of chicken first into the egg mixture, letting excess drip off.
- Dredge the chicken thoroughly in the flour mixture, pressing to coat well.
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
- Arrange chicken pieces in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding.
- Spray the tops of the chicken pieces lightly with cooking spray.
- Air fry at 380°F (195°C) for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature reaches 165°F or 74°C).
- Remove chicken and serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, you can double-coat the chicken: dip coated chicken back into the egg wash, then back into the flour mixture.
- Adjust cayenne pepper amount based on your spice preference.
